CPD Programme in Visual Art for Primary Teachers 2012.
The theme for this year’s CPD programme in Visual Art for Primary teachers is “Literacy and Numeracy through Visual Art”. A workshop has been developed on this theme for each of the six strands in the Visual Art curriculum. The content of each workshop has been devised by Máire Quirke, the Primary CPD facilitator, based on a survey of Primary teachers needs in Visual Art. This year we are adding two study tours to the CPD programme that Primary teachers and their family and friends are welcome to attend.
Details of the programme are as follows:
CPD 01: Drawing 24th March
CPD 02: Paint & Colour 27th February & 5th March
CPD 03: Print 12th & 26th March
CPD 04: Clay 6th & 20th February
CPD 05: Construction 3rd March*
CPD 06: Fabric & Fibre 4th February
CPD 07: Marino Casino Tour 25th February
CPD 08: Docklands Architecture Tour 3rd March*
Workshops are open to Primary teachers in the greater Dublin region only. Workshops in other regions will be announced shortly.
The booking fee for each workshop is €25.
Study tours are open to Primary teachers, family and friends from all regions.
The booking fee per tour is €15.

Continuing Professional Development workshops for Primary Teachers.
Following on the success of the CPD workshops in the 6 strands of the Primary Visual Arts curriculum over the last two years we are delighted to run the workshops again. In collaboration with Blackrock, Drumcondra and Dublin West Education centres the following workshops will take place:

Masterclass and Advanced workshops for Primary Teachers
This year we have organized three advanced/masterclass workshops for Primary teachers who have undertaken workshops in the following strands in the past. These participants will be notified directly by email.
The booking fee per workshop is €25.00.
Advanced Drawing
Participants will be introduced to a number of drawing techniques using mixed-media and a variety of drawing instruments, within the beautiful setting of Castletown House Co. Kildare. The workshop will allow participants to explore observation drawing through still life arrangements, aspects of the surrounding environment and details of the human figure.
Advanced Construction
Participants will experiment and explore with the characteristics of various materials use in making 3D constructions. A variety of construction techniques will be introduced as a basis to forming both representational and non-representational structures with an emphasis on shape, form, balance, space and texture.
Advanced Ceramics
Participants will explore and discover the possibilities of clay through a variety of techniques that include coil and slab building. The workshop will give participants the opportunity to experiment with additive and subtractive decorative techniques in high and low relief while also encouraging participants to discover the possibilities of clay as a form of imaginative expression.
